OK, I have been kicked right and lefts by the e-mails I got to continue my tutorial. In the next few days I will try to put as much of it out there. I had wrote many of the articles, but I had no time to post them lately being busy with IBM Tivoli FlashCopy Manager.
Today, we will start with the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager installation. I will limit this day short to point out the two different parts of the installation & will post the actual installaiton of each part on Day 4, 5, & 6. Though I will try to upload these 4 Days of my tutorial all at once for you to enjoy it.
Although IBM Tivoli Storage Manager can be installed & used on multiple operating systems & platforms, in our course we will cover windows on Intel X86 only. Though most of the steps are the same or similar on the other platforms. Only the installation is a bit different between platforms, but the rest of the tasks are quite similar.
The installation of IBM Tivoli Storage manager can be a straight forward if done in the correct order. Below is the correct order of the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager installation:
1- Install IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server: (Day 4)
· Install TSM Server
· Install TSM Server Licenses
· Install TSM Language Packs & TSM Device Driver
· Initialize TSM Server
2- Install IBM Integrated Solutions Console ISC & Administration Center (Day 5)
3- Install TSM Backup & Archive Client (Day 6)
If you don’t remember any of the above components, please read its brief explanation on IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Components from Day 1, before clicking on the links above to head to the installation of that component.
Dear Eiad Al-Aqqad,
I have read your website about TSM and i see it is very useful and a good link for learning about TSM and other technologies as well. In the part “TSM Implementation & Administration Tutorial”, i see only Day1, 2, 3 and 4. But i don’t see Day 5 and Day 6. Can you please upload them. I will be waiting to read and learn.
Hi Kosal,
I am sorry to say life got really busy after writing the first few days and never got to write the rest of it. I hope one day I will get to write it on a newer version :).
Thanks,
Eiad
